Glaze: Program to protect artists from AI

Bloß mit einer Texteingabe konnte man sich sein eigenes Kunstwerk erschaffen. Eine kritische Stimme damals war die Konzeptkünstlerin Karla Ortiz. Sie gehört auch zu der Gruppe von drei Künstlern, die im Januar zusammen mit der Bildagentur „Getty Images“ Stability AI verklagt haben. Ihr Vorwurf: Das Trainieren der KI mit ihren Bildern verletzte Urheberrechte. Doch damit nicht genug: Die Amerikanerin arbeitet gerade zusammen mit Forschern an einem neuen Programm namens „Glaze“. Es soll verhindern, dass Künstliche Intelligenzen den Stil von Künstlern erkennen und deshalb damit nicht trainieren können.
Last year, artificial intelligences such as Midjourney or Stable Diffusion caused a sensation because they were able to generate new images quite simply. With just a text input, you could create your own work of art. One critical voice at the time was conceptual artist Karla Ortiz. She is also one of the group of three artists who sued Stability AI in January together with the image agency “Getty Images”. Their accusation: training AI with their images violated copyrights. But that’s not all: the American is currently working with researchers on a new program called “Glaze“. It is intended to prevent artificial intelligences from recognizing the style of artists and therefore not being able to train with them.
