“Basquiat and Music” Exhibition

It has been 34 years since Jean-Michel Basquiat died of a heroin overdose in his New York flat. Since then, there have been countless exhibitions about the painter, who often denounced US racism against the black population with his paintings. Music also played a role again and again. It surrounded him and inspired him. The “Museum of Fine Arts” in Montréal, Canada, together with the “Musée de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris” has now dedicated an entire exhibition to the subject of “Basquiat and the music”: “Seeing Loud: Basquiat and the music“. It is the first in which Basquiat’s art is viewed exclusively in connection with his musical passion. Dennis Kastrup took a look at it and spoke to the curator of the exhibition.
